4. Jason Todd's Death - A Death In The Family

Just like the crippling of Barbara Gordon, the death of Jason Todd at the hands of a crowbar wielding Joker is an ultimate failure for Batman and one that launched the canon down a much darker path, in which Batman shunned Dick Grayson and his other charges, fearing that they were marked for death simply by association with him.

The fact that we've never seen this moment on screen is simply criminal. Most superheroes have kid sidekicks, but perhaps Batman has the most important family of sidekicks around him and it's strange that the family has never been executed properly in the past (around here we don't speak of Batman and Robin...) and this heart-wrenching moment is unlikely to be explored any time soon, but there's still hope.
