10 Iconic Characters Movies Keep Screwing Up

5. Everyone In The Terminator

The Terminator launched James Cameron's career and turned Arnold Schwarzenegger into the biggest name in Hollywood almost overnight. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is regarded, not just as a perfect sequel, but among the greatest films ever made.

Then some studio tried to recapture that magic with Terminator 3. It didn't work. So, three different studios tried with three more sequels, each time receiving the same disappointing result.

But how can this keep happening? The actors and director of the original had almost no experience at the time, and yet, moulded a sci-fi masterpiece despite limited resources and money. How come there doesn't seem to be a single studio that can do it again?

Sadly, the Terminator has gone downhill for the same reason as most franchises - too much focus on money. Terminator 3's PG-rating was intended to maximise ticket sales but it diluted the threequel, turning it into a generic blockbuster. Salvation and Genisys focused more on creating a new trilogy rather than telling a singular story. Although Dark Fate was the best instalment in the series since Judgment Day, that just proves how much the bar has been lowered.

Because the franchise has been botched four times and Terminator 7 is officially cancelled (until the next inevitable reboot), it's clear the Terminator name will never be the same as it once was.
