10 Iconic Classical Songs You Only Know Because Of The Movies

9. Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 From The Cat Concerto

Anyone who has seen Tom and Jerry, which surely should include just about everyone who has watched an animated short in their lifetime (whether it is from the cinema itself or reruns on the TV channel Boomerang) will have seen The Cat Concerto. It€™s one of the classic Tom and Jerry shorts that was so good it made its way onto the Empire Magazine 500 greatest Movies of All Tme list. There are so many great moments from this short, from Tom€™s fingers stretching to reach far away keys to Jerry being beaten down the row of strings to Jerry finally hijacking the strings to the final exhausted look on Tom€™s face when he€™s allowed to finish the music. All this strung together to Franz Liszt€™s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 creates a classic match of classic music and comedic timing.
