10 Iconic Comic Book Storylines That Are Currently Impossible

6. Batman: Year One (DC)

Batman: Year One was a 1987 arc which recounted both the beginning of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman and the beginning of Jim Gordon's career with the Gotham City Police Department. The story sees Bruce Wayne returning home to Gotham City, at the age of twenty-five, after training around the world in martial arts, man-hunting and science for the past twelve years, as well as depicting James Gordon moving to Gotham with his wife, Barbara, after a transfer from Chicago. Both men are very quickly introduced to the mass corruption and widespread violence of Gotham City and each set out to transform it in their own ways. In the current DC Cinematic Universe, it would be impossible to ever adapt this storyline, as the Batman we're going to be getting introduced to in the next film in 2016 is a seasoned veteran crime fighter. Ben Affleck - who is 42-years-old - will be portraying the Dark Knight, while no James Gordon has seemingly even been cast yet.
