10 Iconic Comic Book Storylines That Are Currently Impossible

5. Blackest Night (DC)

Blackest Night was a 2009-2010 storyline, the premise of which is that, following a war between the willpower-fuelled Green Lanterns and the fear-fuelled Sinestro Corps, each team gets informed about a prophecy that states more corps will emerge and that they will all need to join forces in order to defeat the Black Lanterns €“ a corps of black ring-bearing heroes and villains who had died and been brought to life as undead monsters via the gift of the black ring. It saw returns for a huge number of dead heroes and villains and would make for a superb movie event that would combine the superhero genre with horror, as horrifying super-powered zombies attacked from every corner of the universe. It wouldn't currently work for a number of reasons - even disregarding the fact that Green Lantern doesn't yet exist in the DC Cinematic Universe. First, nowhere near enough heroes or villains have died to make a Black Lantern Corps interesting but, most importantly, the supernatural element wouldn't work. Granted, the franchise saw alien beings in its first movie but, with Batman being the next hero to appear, its still to grounded and science-based to accommodate an army of what are essentially ring-empowered zombies.
