10 Iconic Directors Who Don't Have A Film In The IMDb Top 250

1. Werner Herzog

Best Known For: Aguirre: The Wrath Of God, Fitzcarraldo, Grizzly Man Most Deserving IMDb Top 250 Candidate: Aguirre: The Wrath Of God Well, this is just sort of nuts, isn't it? Werner Herzog is one of the greatest filmmakers to have ever taken up a camera. Over the span of close to six decades, the deadpan Bavarian director has produced some of the most mind-blowing movies ever put to celluloid - of both the documentary and feature film kind. The fact that there's not a single picture - of which there are more than sixty, by the way - on the IMDb Top 250 feels like something akin to cinematic blasphemy. There's no excuse for the fact that both Aguirre: The Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo haven't made the cut, because they stand as two of the most crazily beautiful films ever. Aguirre at least manages to score an 8.0 on the site, which means that it might be on its way to joining the likes of Forrest Gump on the Top 250 in the not-too-distant future. Still, there are so many under-appreciated Herzog masterpieces on the site that, clearly, IMDb users don't quite know what to make of his works. Like this article?
