Sloth (real name revealed post-movie as Lotney Fratelli) is one of the '80s most recognisable characters, and "Hey you guys", although often quoted with mock and derision, remains one of cinema's most iconic lines.

Sloth was portrayed by John Matuszak, a 6ft 7in 280lb former NFL defensive end. And, although Matuszak was one tough guy, the facial modifications required to become Sloth proved burdensome. Before the start of each filming day, Matuszak had to sit in the make-up chair for five hours as he had 15 layers of prosthetics applied to his face. Added to this were motors that animated one eye and both ears.

Any time Matuszak's make-up was interfered with due to hijinks and horsing around on set, he would have to return to the make-up chair for a further gruelling four to five hour application.

His facial make-up was so sensitive that this reapplication process was even necessary if he was splashed with water. Though, Matuszak had a reputation as a bruiser on the football field, he was gentle and patient with his colleagues regardless of his hellish transformation process.
