10 Iconic Movie Costumes Actors Hated Wearing
5. Tim Curry – The Lord Of Darkness
Demon's are some of the most iconic figures in culture, necessitating movies to go all out if they want their demonic creation to stand out. Tim Curry's The Lord of Darkness, from the early Tom Cruise vehicle Legend (1985) remains on of cinema's most awe-inspiring demonic entities. Yet Curry suffered for his art.
Demonic possession via the special effects department necessitated Curry to sit in the make-up chair for five and a half hours. It required his entire body to be covered in a cast, attached to his skin with spirit gum, to get that level of fiendish distortion and infernal crimson sheen.
Once filming wrapped up for the day, Curry had to soak for an hour to remove the gunk. On one occasion he grew impatient and tore it off, leading to his skin needing an entire week to recover.
Added to this, Darkness' dominating horns protruding from the side of the head caused further pain to Curry. The three foot barbs were made of fibreglass attached to Curry's head with a harness.
After inflicting neck pain on the actor, his complaints on this matter were taken into account and they were replaced by a lighter variant.
