10 Iconic Movie Moments (That Were Only Added At The Last Minute)
10. Picking Up Anakin's Lightsaber - Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith
The Iconic Scene: After almost three whole movies of taxation discussions and awkward flirting, the Star Wars prequels finally delivered on what we all went in to see; Anakin getting trapped in that iconic black suit. Following a nine minute lightsaber duel consisting of lots of jumping, the child murderer is burnt alive as his friend watches. Wait, isn't this a family film? After screaming at his old apprentice, Obi-Wan picks up Anakin's lightsaber, ready to give to Luke in twenty years, claiming that Anakin wanted his son to have it. From this perspective it looks like he had other things on his mind. Why Was It Last Minute? If you ever wanted proof that George Lucas should have watched the original Star Wars movies a couple more times before diving into the prequels, this is it. That shot of Obi-Wan picking up the lightsaber, one of the most essential links between the two trilogies, was completely forgotten about until post-production. Realising that without it he'd have created yet another major plot hole, Lucas only got this essential shot in post-production. Although he still failed in explaining why Obi-Wan had to lie so vehemently about everything.
