10 Iconic Movie Moments (That Were Only Added At The Last Minute)

4. The Ending - World War Z

The Iconic Scene: World War Z was a film that fans of Max Brooks' source novel wanted, and one everybody else expected, to fail. A troubled production that seemed to jettison the geo-political undertones of the beloved book in favour of blockbuster thrills, it looked set to take on The Lone Ranger as most financially destructive film of 2013. That wasn't the case, however. Not only did it clear up at the box office, suggesting Brad Pitt may be the one person alive who can open a movie single-handedly, it ended up being quite a fun movie in a summer dominated by bloated sequels. The only real down-point was the ending, which saw Pitt confront a lone zombie in a basement. After seeing the undead scale the walls of Jerusalem it seemed a little anti-climactic. Why Was It Last Minute? As the budget spiralled and release date loomed, World War Z found itself in a precarious position - it had no proper ending. The original plan, a massive, Moscow set-piece, was incomplete and would require extensive work to get it up to scratch. Damon Lindelof came on and, in a bid to give the whole thing a sense of coherence, suggested the Wales-set finale we got. This ending still led to the cost increasing, but not as much as it could have.
