7. More Space Battles
This entry is by no means saying there is a fault with he trench run. The dogfights and trench run are iconic for A New Hope, and showed just how talented the folks at ILM are. But Return of the Jedi steps this up to the max for the finale of the trilogy.
Space battles is literally what Star Wars is about - wars in the stars. Whilst the trench run is brilliant, that is its main focus; the majority of the scene takes place in the trench and not between any sort of capital ships, which is where Return of the Jedi comes in.
Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One have major space battle sequences, the most memorable of which has to be the opening of Revenge of the Sith.
The final prequel film opens with an amazing sequence above Coruscant, with the Republic battling the Separatists. The sequence is the perfect opener and arguably the best opening in the franchise. The first shot of seeing Obi Wan and Anakin's starfighters weaving through the battle is beautiful.
This is trait which also makes up a significant amount of Star Wars games, in games such as Rogue Squadron, Battlefront, and the latest Squadron game.
