10 Iconic Star Wars Things That Only Came After A New Hope

Lets face it - Obi-Wan vs. Vader in A New Hope is a bit boring. Exciting enough for a first duel, but to the now expanded universe, there are definitely more grander lightsaber duels.

Across the following sequels, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, we see Luke battle Vader once again in each film, in more stylistic and faster paced duels. These high paced combat sequences have now become synonymous with the franchise.

Also, say what you like about the prequels, but they didn't half have some of the greatest duels in the series.

The Phantom Menace sees the debut of the first unique lightsaber of the series, in the form of Darth Maul's double ended blade. The Sith apprentice's duel with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan is without doubt the highlight of the first prequel. It is the first instance where we see more than two opponents duelling at the same time.

However, the scale of the duels keep increasing. By Revenge of the Sith, there are several different lightsaber duels taking place at once.

The final duel between Obi Wan and Anakin is arguably the most important duel to take place in the series, and as a result is as grand as possible.
