10 Images That Prove James Cameron Is Totally Insane
8. Piranha II: The Spawning
Before breaking out with The Terminator in 1984, James Cameron directed his biggest critical failure to date. Piranha II: The Spawning is a movie that even Cameron himself barely acknowledges, often claiming that The Terminator was his first feature film. Piranha II had a greatly troubled production period, and Cameron actually entered the project as the special effects director, taking over after the original director left. The premise of the film was more than a little crazy, featuring deadly piranhas that could fly through the air. The special effects that went into the flying piranhas were overseen directly by Cameron himself, and he later revisited the technology when creating the face huggers in Aliens. Cameron has since jokingly claimed that Piranha II is the "the best flying piranha film ever made."
