Former Games of Thrones and The Tudors actor Natalie Dormer stars in the upcoming spin-off of cult paranormal horror phenomenon Penny Dreadful, and the period piece star looks to be in fine form as the protagonist Magda.

The trick is, as evidenced in the sparse promotional material made available thus far (a few stills and a brief teaser trailer), is that Magda is a shape-shifting demon able to change her appearance at will as best befits her needs. It’s the sort of character you’d expect and hope to see in a Penny Dreadful extended televisual universe project, and with any luck Dormer won’t disappoint.

However, this means the role sees her play a blonde, a brunette, her black-haired “real” self, and don countless other guises throughout the series, a healthy handful of which have already been glimpsed in the trailer. Dormer has looked both like her old self and utterly unrecognizable already in the few glimpses we’ve gotten of her character so far.

While she may not have put her back out in the gym like some on this list, Dormer can attest to being the only one who’s not only unrecognizable in a new role, but also looks to be unrecognizable with every appearance in every new episode. Spooky stuff indeed.
