6. Peter Capaldi Played A W.H.O. Doctor In World War Z, Then Cast As Doctor Who

doctor who peter capaldi The Internet buzz was confirmed this week when it was announced that Peter Capaldi, best known as the profanity-fuelled Malcolm Tucker on the BBC political satire series In The Thick of It, would be playing the 12th iteration of The Doctor in Doctor Who. Though the actor is well known to British audiences for his (sweary) contributions, he's about to see his profile raised significantly state-side, given the popularity of the show as one of their imports. Still, there's an even more interesting recent coincidence concerning the actor becoming the latest Time Lord. Capaldi appears in the third-act of the recent zombie movie World War Z, appearing relatively briefly as a Doctor working in the headquarters of the World Health Organisation. Just think about that for a minute; he's playing a W.H.O Doctor. Doctor...Who...geddit?
