10 Incredible Castings For Upcoming Movies

9. Jeffrey Wright - Commissioner Gordon (The Batman)

Matt Reeves' The Batman has just started shooting, and it's an absolute embarrassment of riches as far as inspired casting decisions are concerned.

But even more than Robert Pattinson playing the Caped Crusader himself or Colin Farrell taking the part of The Penguin, the movie's real casting masterstroke is surely hiring Jeffrey Wright to play Commissioner Gordon.

Wright is a criminally under-appreciated character actor with a slew of terrific performances to his name - most notably as Felix Leiter in the Daniel Craig Bond films and Bernard Lowe on HBO's Westworld - and so it's easy to see how he'll make for a fantastically world-weary, gruff iteration of Jim Gordon.

As much of a shame as it was that J.K. Simmons never got his fair due as the DCEU version of the character, Wright seems like an excellent choice to match Reeves' reportedly grittier vision for the Dark Knight. Wright's gravelly voice alone makes him a perfect fit, honestly.
