8. Emma Stone - Cruella De Vil (Cruella)

There's no denying the on-paper weirdness of Disney making a prequel origin story for 101 Dalmatians' villainous Cruella de Vil, and even when Emma Stone was cast, it didn't really make much more sense.

But then Disney released an image of Stone suited-up as Cruella, and suddenly everything clicked.

Stone has a knack for playing prickly and sarcastic characters, and from this single image alone, it seems like she's going to be pulling off her best Helena Bonham Carter impression as she attempts to lend campy shade to one of Disney's most iconic antagonists.

It remains to be seen exactly how the movie itself will turn out, of course, but Stone seems to disappear into the character's eccentric visual design far easier than expected, and if the film's strong enough, it could certainly end up as her next major awards bid.

Either way, there's little doubt that Stone's going to knock this out of the park and deliver a worthy predecessor to Glenn Close's unforgettable, Golden Globe-nominated turn as the character in the 1996 live-action movie.
