Somehow defying all logic, Quentin Tarantino's follow-up to the impressive one-two combo of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction remains seldom seen outside of cinephiles and ardent fans of his work.

Where those first two films were cultural phenomenons at their time of release, Jackie Brown somehow fell short of expectations and sits alongside Death Proof as Tarantino's the least successful of his films. It still made more than its budget, but when conversations turn to Tarantino, Jackie Brown is more often than not, an afterthought.

It's honestly such a shame that so few people seem to have seen or appreciate Jackie Brown, because when judged on its own merits, it's easily one of Tarantino's finest films. The script sparkles with his flare and the cast is also stellar, with fantastic performances from Pam Grier, Michael Keaton, Robert De-Niro and of course the ever charismatic Samuel L Jackson.

Many have speculated as to why the film wasn't as successful, citing reasons such as the female protagonist or the distancing from the style and tone of Tarantino's previous films. All we have to say on the matter is that Jackie Brown is brilliant and you should watch it.
