10 Incredible Movies With Just ONE Awful Scene

1. Psycho – The Psychiatrist’s Explanation

Psycho, Alfred Hitchcock’s terrifying masterpiece, has aged exceptionally well and is still just as chilling today even though it’s now over half a century old. Since it is such a classic film, you wouldn’t expect to find any awful scenes in there, but there is one.

After the capture of Norman Bates, there is a highly superfluous exposition-filled speech from a random psychologist explaining Norman’s condition, although most of what he said is something viewers will have already worked out for themselves.

This sequence stands out as highly dull and flatly-written in contrast to an otherwise perfectly-structured and written movie. Directly after this, there is the brilliant “She wouldn’t hurt a fly scene” scene and that should’ve replaced the scene with the psychologist, since that told us everything we needed to know.

The main thing one can take away from this is that even a film as great as Psycho has its off moments and that it really is true: no film is without sin.
