10 Incredible Scenes Trapped In Otherwise Bad Movies
8. Angels Childhood - X-Men: The Last Stand
For a movie that simultaneously botched two beloved comic book stories in one movie, The Last Stand proved that even amidst the most underdeveloped of narratives, theres always room for some real human emotion. The theme of not belonging and being different is an extremely resonant one and made up the backbone of the first two X-Men films. For Brett Ratner's threequel, however, instead of being spread throughout the whole film, the relevant struggle was condensed into a singular, memorable scene at the very start. We see the young Warren Worthington III crying in the bathroom, desperately trying to cut away the burgeoning feather wings growing out of his back. The scene just gets more heartbreaking from there as you realise that his set-up of supplies means hes done this before. From there, his father enters, and rather than understanding, hes visibly disappointed, saying only, Oh God, not you. The whole ordeal is just heart-wrenching and is emblematic of the struggle that many of the mutant in the film face. We have to infer that for ourselves, however, because the film takes no more time to delve into these themes and instead spends its time disjointedly trying to make us care about a poorly-executed Dark Phoenix Saga. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBWMfy4wA40
