10 Incredibly Annoying Characters Who Almost Ruined 2013 Movies
7. Brad - We're The Millers
Ed Helms is great in small doses: he was very good in Arrested Development, and his addition to the Office cast has been helped hugely by the fact that the ensemble cast takes pressure of him. It's when shows and films attempt to make him a central character the problems start to come in. So it was good news that We're The Millers cast Helms in a supporting role, and sought to take advantage of his increased impact from diminished screen time. The problem, though, was that his character Brad Gurdlinger was a terrible addition to the story, adding very little in terms of comedy, and very little that suggests that he is a suitable threat to make David go through such an ordeal to meet his demands. Next to Tomer Sisley's Mexican drug lord Pablo, Helms' performance was blunt, and while there was definitely room for him to replace genuine threat with humour, as P Diddy did well as the megalomaniac bad guy of Get Him To The Greek, the laughs were conspicuously absent, and the whole thing felt imbalanced as a result.
