4. A Police Officer (Maniac Cop)
Police officers are usually the go-to guys in horror movies, but the tables turn in this one as a copper is the crazed killer. Innocent people start being savagely murdered on the mean streets of New York City and all of the witnesses claim that the assailant is a uniformed police officer. As the death toll rises and City Hall attempts a cover-up, Detective Lieutenant Frank McCrae heads the investigation. A young cop, Jack Forrest - played by horror legend Bruce Campbell - finds himself under arrest as the chief suspect, having been the victim of a cruel and clever set-up by the real killer and a mysterious, anonymous female phone-caller. Forrest, his girlfriend Theresa, and McCrae set out to solve the puzzle before the Maniac Cop can strike again. It's a very average film, despite its unique antagonist and high-concept plot, without any real horror innovations.
