10 Infamous Failed Blockbusters That Cost Obscene Money

7. Stealth

Cutthroat Island
Columbia Pictures

The decision to funnel $135m into making something as abjectly terrible as Stealth must have been the result of a Red Bull-addled young executive pitching the movie as 'Top Gun for the nu-metal generation', because the final product was just as terrible as that synopsis makes it sound.

Stealth runs for over two hours, and yet the only thing in the entire running time that's even remotely enjoyable is the unnecessarily large but still fantastic destruction of an Alaskan airfield, one that required 500 gallons of gasoline and required NASA to be notified before they went ahead and blew it up.

Besides that brief one-minute display of pyrotechnics, there's absolutely nothing to recommend about one of the most hollow and vapid blockbusters of the 21st Century, with Stealth becoming one of the biggest box office bombs in history after failing to even crack $80m at the box office on a $135m budget.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
