Yet another case of a film that laid all the groundwork for a good film, only to stumble over itself at the final hurdle. The film doesn't even have the dialogue spoken verbally, but instead appears on a computer screen, because the character whose line it is has turned into a USB!
Being a Luc Besson directed movie, the plot is absolutely insane with a number of bizarre plot elements. The film focusses on a young lady named Lucy who is accidentally injected with a chemical that allows her to use her brain's full capacity. While the movie's scientific accuracy is average at best and the plotting definitely has its flaws, the flick still manages to hold your interest as Lucy moves closer to gaining 100% use of her brain's capabilities.
It is the reveal of what happens when the 100% capacity mark is hit where the whole film falls apart, our protagonist literally vanishing into thin air. As the scientists look around for the young lady, a USB appears out of nowhere, as Lucy writes a line of dialogue on a computer screen- "I am everywhere."
While the idea was likely meant to be a clever twist, it just came across as illogical and a massive let down. Having the dialogue appear on a computer screen rather than just be spoken also makes no sense considering she is meant to be 'everywhere'. Besson probably hoped that audiences would be discussing the deeper themes of the ending, but instead it just left everyone shaking their heads.
