2. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park
Another hero saved by his charisma. In Michael Crichton's chilling thriller, Jurassic Park, the novel that started it all the character of Ian Malcolm dies from loss of blood while the group waits to escape the island. Being thrown by a T-Rex would be enough to kill anyone. Unless that person happens to be Jeff Goldblum and is the most likable character in the movie. Malcolm escapes from the island and becomes the main character of the second JP film in the series. Crichton also agreed to write a second book starring Malcolm's character. The events of his death are quickly brushed aside as being "greatly exaggerated."
