The "Plot Hole"

After Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) finally manages to escape from Bane's (Tom Hardy) hellish, remote underground prison, how was he able to get back to Gotham City? And how did he do so without being detected by Bane, given that he had Gotham on full lockdown?

The Explanation

Beyond the obvious "He's Batman!" explanation - which really should've been sufficient - this is a symptom of the film's extreme time compression, as Bruce goes from trapped in Bane's prison to back in Gotham within just five minutes of screen time.

If you were paying attention to what Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) said just a few scenes before Bruce escaped, though, you'd know that there was a 23-day countdown until Bane's neutron bomb would decay enough to detonate.

As such, Bruce had more than three weeks to figure out his way home, which for a man of his skill-set isn't much of an ask.

Given that Batman Begins made it abundantly clear worldwide travel on minimal resources wasn't much of a stretch for him, as well as establishing that the Batcave is connected to the Underground Railroad through a series of tunnels, there was ample time and opportunity for Bruce to make it back into Gotham undetected.
