7. A Sound of Thunder

Based on esteemed sci-fi author Ray Bradbury's short story, A Sound of Thunder is a great concept for a movie, but ended up being the subject of an awful one instead.

Time tourists that venture into the past but inadvertently make huge changes to the future is an idea ripe with potential that could put a fresh spin on one of time-travel's most familiar tropes, but the end result turned out to be one of the worst sci-fi movies ever made.

It certainly didn't help that studio Franchise Pictures went bankrupt during post-production, leading to some of the worst visual effects that you're ever likely to see in an $80m movie, but that didn't exactly explain why the script and acting performances were so irredeemably awful.

A Sound of Thunder just about squeaked past $11m at the global box office, and the only memorable thing about the entire endeavor is Ben Kingsley's more-than-worthy entry into the Hall of Fame for worst wigs in the history of cinema.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
