There comes a time in every big-name comedy actor's career that they make the segue into more dramatic territory after aging out of the genre that made them a star in the first place, but based on his recent output it seems that Will Ferrell still has little inclination to make the jump.

You'd have to go all the way back to 2006's Stranger than Fiction to find the last time the Anchorman star didn't play some version of the well-meaning idiots that have come to define his filmography, but despite earning rave reviews and landing a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, Ferrell has shown little interest in taking any sort of creative risks since then.

A quick glance at recent box office returns indicate that the routine is starting to wear out its welcome, which is hardly surprising given that we've been watching the 52 year-old play variations on the screaming man-child for close to 20 years at this point.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
