10 Infuriatingly Stale Actors That Should Try Something Different For A Change
5. Jason Statham
The 'Jason Statham Movie' is an action sub-genre unto itself, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with being the charismatic king of the two-to-three star beat-em-up, the actor is much more capable in both the dramatic and comedic departments than his permanent scowl would suggest.
With his stock at an all-time high after playing major roles in the Expendables and Fast and Furious franchises, as well as leading The Meg to over half a billion dollars at the box office, now would be the ideal time for the former competitive diver and model to make a deliberate effort to broaden the range of his output.
His early collaborations with Guy Ritchie hardly relied on his decades of martial arts training, while he changed absolutely nothing about his established screen persona in Paul Feig's Spy and turned out to be the unexpectedly hilarious highlight of the entire movie.
In fact, if you discount his voice role in Gnomeo & Juliet then you'd have to go back fifteen years to find the last time he appeared in something that didn't involve elements of the action, thriller or crime genres.
