7. The Catrix - The Matrix Resurrections
You couldn't really be blamed for missing the deeply bizarre post-credits gag in The Matrix Resurrections, as it wasn't exactly telegraphed beforehand.
The scene returns to the video game developers Neo (Keanu Reeves) worked with on his video game adaptation of The Matrix, who are discussing the notion that the Internet has basically killed traditional narrative media.
Two of the developers pitch the rest of the team on a new game that's basically just a series of cat videos called "The Catrix," and then the scene abruptly cuts to black.
Wait, what?
On one hand, this feels like an off-cut from an especially naff SNL skit, but on the other, it's at least consistent with the sequel's thematic content.
