10 INSANE Credits Scenes You Probably Missed
4. The Super Koopa Cousins - Super Mario Bros. (1993)
1993's Super Mario Bros. adaptation is a film that evidently left many fans rushing for the exits, and so only precious few are aware of a barmy final gag waiting at the very end of the credits.
In fact, there's a strong argument to be made that it's actually the funniest moment in the entire movie.
The scene opens on two Japanese businessmen - perhaps Nintendo executives, one might assume - who tell two unseen people that they want to produce a video game based on their many adventures. The businessmen then ask them what they'd call such a game.
At this point, we pan to the unseen duo in question, the audience obviously expecting them to be Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi (John Leguizamo), only for it to actually be King Koopa's (Dennis Hopper) goofball cousins-slash-henchmen Iggy (Fisher Stevens) and Spike (Richard Edson).
Iggy suggests the title "Iggy's World" before Spike follows up with "The Indomitable Spike," and the pair finally agree on "The Super Koopa Cousins."
Honestly, the way this toyed with audience expectations was pretty damn funny.
