The Theory
Jared Harris' scientist mentor to protagonist Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) will be none other than Dr. Otto Octavius - the man who will of course eventually become Doctor Octopus.
Why It Might Be True
It's rather suspicious that the identity of Harris' character hasn't yet been named, and though Harris himself denied that he was playing Doc Ock, it'd hardly be the first time an actor lied to the press to preserve a neat surprise.
Considering how perfect Harris would be for the part, and how Adrian Toomes' (Michael Keaton) confirmed role in the film will tether it directly to the MCU's Spider-Man (Tom Holland), it'd make all the sense in the world for Morbius to also introduce us to one of Spidey's most iconic enemies.
Even if Octavius' transformation is saved for another movie entirely, simply laying down the foundations and teasing his villainous future would be a fantastic way to get fans excited for what's to come.
