While it's fair to say that most folk aren't in the business of continually pausing a movie on their initial viewing to soak in every last visual detail, in the case of the recent screen life thriller Missing, they might make an exception.

After all, Missing's standalone predecessor, Searching, saw filmmakers Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian use the film's computer screen format to hide a ton of Easter egg-y information in plain sight.

Most famously, this included an alien invasion subplot taking place at the same time as the whole missing child scenario, yet only when the film hit home video and fans could pause it to their heart's content was every last detail finally uncovered.

And so, for this sequel fans already knew that Chaganty and Ohanian would be filling the screen with sneaky details at every possible moment. All the same, you probably didn't expect the duo to straight-up spoil the movie halfway through for anyone studying closely enough.

As Ohanian himself revealed to Reddit, when protagonist June (Storm Reid) is messaging one of her friends, at the bottom of the screen is a message from Ohanian, literally revealing the movie's twist, that June's mother Grace (Nia Long) has been lying to her.

As it turns out, June's believed-dead father is actually still alive and is also the mastermind behind Grace's kidnapping. It's all literally spelled out in the middle of the movie itself.
