10 Insane Movie Stunts They Filmed FOR REAL

2. Shopping Mall Jump - Police Story

Performing real stunts is often left to professional stunt men and women; Jackie Chan disagrees. Over the many decades in his career, he's taken on countless falls on camera, leaving himself beaten and battered throughout production cycles.

There are too many moments in his filmography to pick, but if we're talking sheer danger to life, then the original Police Story from 1985 takes the cake. It's a fairly straightforward story; a battle between Sergeant Chan Ka-Kui against mobsters in Hong Kong.

The final act of Police Story features Jackie's most dangerous and death-defying stunt of all. A slide down a pole through countless electrical wires, smashing through a glass ceiling and finally hitting the floor. It's a visceral moment and you can tell from the crazed look on Jackie's face that he won't be walking away from this.

It's an unbelievable means to close out the final action sequence, but it came at great cost to the actor's physical health. The man suffered second-degree burns all over his hands from sliding down the pole and a dislocation of his pelvis from the fall itself. The injuries were so bad, they nearly paralysed him, which speaks to Jackie's incredible or just plain mad approach to taking on the action.
