10 Insane Movie Theories (That Are Clearly Utter Bull)

3. Stanley Kubrick Was Confessing For Faking The Moon Landing - The Shining

ShiningThe Crazy Theory: Many movies have theories so intense that should have the purporters committed, but not many have a whole other movie made about them. Among Native American vengeance and subliminal advertising, one crackpot suggests the horror classic The Shining is Stanley Kubrick€™s apology for faking the moon landing. Why It Can€™t Be True: I feel a bit bemused that I'm actually going to have to write this, given how obvious it is. The moon landings weren't faked. In 1968 Stanley Kubrick made 2001: A Space Odyssey, part of which is set on the moon. In 1969 America landed on the moon and conspiracy theorists connected two dots from completely separate pages of the book. In The Shining there€™s plenty of 'evidence' that can be used for this argument, but it€™s all subjective. Ooh, Danny wears an Apollo 11 jumper. Ooh... Oh wait, that€™s literally the basis of the whole theory. Anything else is pretty much like finding meaning in Only God Forgives; you€™re trying too hard. Ultimately this theory falls apart in the same way as The Beatles€™ €˜Paul is Dead€™ cover up (Google it) does; if Kubrick did actually fake the moon landing and regretted it, why would his immediate way to clear his conscience be to hide clues in a movie?
