10 INSANE Movies You Won't Believe Are Getting Made

4. Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story

Even with the bizarre current boom of corporate biopics like Air, Tetris, BlackBerry, and Flamin' Hot, it's tough not to laugh at the prospect of a movie based on the origins of the noble Pop-Tart. It sounds less like a real film than an SNL parody, right?

But Jerry Seinfeld finally found something more unhinged than Bee Movie to attach his name to, as he's currently deep in post-production on the hilariously monikered Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.

The film takes place primarily in 1963 and chronicles - don't laugh - the race between Kellogg's and Post Consumer Brands to bring a breakfast pastry to market.

With Seinfeld serving as star, co-writer, and director, he's obviously taking an entirely comedic approach to the subject, rather than trying to craft a straight-laced, The Social Network-esque drama about such a frivolous pop-culture staple.

And to be fair to Seinfeld, he's certainly roped in one hell of a stacked ensemble cast, including the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Hugh Grant, James Marsden, Christian Slater, Maria Bakalova, Peter Dinklage, and Jon Hamm.

Even accepting it as comedy, though, it sounds like a joke movie that'd never actually get made. Yet it's a real film shot by veteran cinematographer Bill Pope (The Matrix trilogy) and is due to drop on Netflix in the coming months.
