10 Insane Over The Top Horror Movies

8. Psycho Goreman (2021)

When the bratty Mimi (Nita-Josee Hanna) and her neurotic brother Luke (Owen Myre) discover an ancient amulet buried in their garden, they inadvertently unleash the titular Psycho Goreman. He’s a towering purple monstrosity with god-like powers who desires only to destroy the entire universe. As long as the youngsters possess the gem, though, he’s completely under their control.

Written and directed by Steven Kotanski (The Void), this film’s title is enough to tell viewers exactly what sort of schlocky fun they’re in for. The picture's running gag is that this ancient force of evil is turned into a child’s sidekick, and this flick knows how to get as much fun out of its absurd premise as it can.

Much like Kotanski’s previous offering, this outing boasts some impressive practical gore effects which perfectly strike the balance between sickening and hilarious. One moment a group of kids are eviscerated into piles of fleshy goo, the next the siblings’ friend is transformed into a walking brain with tentacles and googly eyes.

The cherry on top of this face-ripping sci-fi romp is some creative creature design which would feel right at home in any cheesy comic book affair. It's simply ridiculous in all the best ways.
