10 Insane Over The Top Horror Movies

5. Tokyo Gore Police (2008)

If you’re looking for over-the-top horror films, Japanese cinema is where to find some of the most imaginatively insane outings that are overflowing with outlandish plots, hilariously creative kills, and ridiculous amounts of blood that spurt out of severed limbs like gory geysers.

Vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl, Machine Girl, Mutant Girl Squad, and Hausu are all worthy contenders for this list. However, none of these are quite as excessive as Yoshihiro Nishimura’s low budget splatter spectacle Tokyo Gore Police.

Taking place in a near-future Tokyo in which the police have been privatised into a ruthless malitia, the film follows the vengeful Ruka (Audition’s Eihi Shiina) who’s on the hunt for the man responsible for killing her father. This lust for vengeance puts in directly in the path of a group of mutated criminals known as Engineers, who’re able to grow grotesque weapons from injuries.

What follows is an unapologetically grizzly romp through Tokyo, as Ruka mercilessly slices and dices her way closer to the mad scientist responsible for both the Engineers and her trauma.

Containing everything from a woman with an alligator jaw for legs, to a shogun using gushing blood as a jetpack, this flick is unadulterated gory goodness.
