10 Insane Recent Horror Movie Moments Nobody Saw Coming
1. Gordy's Home Incident - Nope
Jordan Peele's third directorial effort, Nope, has its most shocking scene not with the extra-terrestrial Jean Jacket, but with one of the most visceral animal attacks in recent history.
Ricky 'Jupe' Park is a former child star and park owner who has a troubled past. He was famous for a show named Gordy's Home where he played a boy who befriended a chimpanzee. But the show ended in tragedy with deaths and injuries involved where Jupe was the only one left unharmed. The film then proceeds to show the grisly events in the middle of the film.
The flashback reveals that Gordy was triggered by loud noises and flashing lights which made him berserk. Through the perspective of a young Jupe, we see the chimp kill two of his co-stars, and in a horrific scene, mauls Mary Jo Elliot, a fellow child star working on the show. Though Gordy eventually returns to his senses, it is all too late as before he can reach out to Jupe, the ape is killed by Animal Control.
Though Nope thankfully shies away from complete gore, seeing the animal maul a young child remains one of the most striking sequences in the film.
