9. Corey Takes Over - Halloween Ends
Halloween Ends is the finale of the David Gordon Green trilogy which began in 2018. The film was intended to be the climactic confrontation between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers; ending their feud which began with the John Carpenter original.
It's a shame, then, that before we would get to said confrontation, the film decides to explore Corey Cunningham.
The young man is a town pariah after accidentally killing a young boy on Halloween night. Upon encountering Michael Myers, Corey gets a change in personality and becomes the new vessel of evil, committing murders across Haddonfield and eventually, overpowering The Shape to gain his mask. Before the film's climax, Cunningham is thankfully subdued by Laurie before the wannabe slasher decides to kill himself.
Exploring evil and how it is passed on from generation to generation is an interesting concept on its own and actor Rohan Campbell does the best of the material given to him. But for the intended final movie of the Halloween series, shifting the focus to an entirely new character was a filmmaking decision nobody saw coming.
