10 Insane Recent Horror Movie Moments Nobody Saw Coming
8. One Last Scare - Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
The one last scare is a trope that has been present in horror movies since time immemorial. From Jason rising from the water in the original Friday the 13th to Freddy Krueger grabbing Marge Thompson at the end of A Nightmare on Elm Street, it is a staple of the genre and one of the best ones for that matter.
Despite the movie being one of the weakest entries in the franchise, 2022's Texas Chainsaw Massacre delivers one of the best renditions of the trope.
Sisters Lila and Melody seem to have defeated the infamous Leatherface and appear to be safe. But as the two slowly drive home, the slasher breaks the windshield and grabs the elder sister. As Lila watches helplessly as her car drives off, we see the chainsaw-wielding maniac slice the young woman's head off not before doing his signature dance from the older TCM movies.
Though it doesn't break any new ground, the brutality of the murder and the visual of Melody losing her head at least gives the movie the dignity of ending on a good note.
