10 Insane Storyboards That Were Too Extreme For The Batman Movies

2. Hooker Catwoman (The Dark Knight Rises)

The Concept: Again from the Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray supplementary material, this time we catch a glimpse at an alternate design for Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Eschewing the more practical and down-to-Earth kit which Kyle ultimately wore in the movie, this design is closer in style to the more provocative and outrageous suits worn by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry in their respective outings as the character. One design appears stitched-together and another is garishly over-styled. Dare we say it...Catwoman looks like a hooker! Why It's Too Extreme: To be fair, the PG-13 rule doesn't really apply here, because there's no significant show of skin, and the previous cinematic Catwoman characters have all gotten away with a little kinkiness. It's more an artistic decision: with Christopher Nolan's focus on (mostly) practical combat wear that's militaristic in nature rather than outlandish and silly, a Catwoman kitted out in fetish wear would seem wildly out of place, and though Hathaway's Catsuit isn't especially memorable, it does an efficient, acceptable and inoffensive job, which is really all it needed to do. The Pfeiffer approach would have clashed harshly with what Nolan was setting out to achieve tonally.
