The original: Forrest Gump does some pretty groundbreaking stuff with CGI, compositing Tom Hanks's somewhat offensively mentally challenged protagonist amongst some of the most iconic moments in American history; it had an all-star cast, between Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field; Robert Zemeckis was directing. It also veered wildly in tone and involved a shrimp company and cross-country running as significant plot points alongside the AIDs epidemic. The sequel: The original Forrest Gump actually followed the character exploits right up until the present day, but there's some events that were skipped over, and you just know he got up to some wacky exploits in the rest of the nineties. At least, that was the assumption when the script of Forrest Gump 2: Gump and Co was being developed, which would've involved Hanks hanging out with Princess Diana and OJ Simpson. Which might sound like it turned into a conspiracy thriller where he's involved with two of the most tragic new stories/murders of the decade, but...well, it's totally that. He joins Simpson in his car chase and warns Di about tunnels. Which is probably not okay, is it?
