10 Insane War Movie Facts You Won't Believe Are Real
6. Bradley Cooper Wore Chris Kyle's Shoes While Filming American Sniper
While any good actor must metaphorically step into the shoes of the character they are playing, Bradley Cooper took this sentiment to a whole new level during the production of American Sniper. A dramatised biographic from legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood, the 2014 war film chronicles the life story of Chris Kyle - a US Navy Seal sniper credited with more than 150 confirmed kills during the 2003 Iraq War.
Packing on significant muscle and affecting a Texan accent to lend legitimacy to his portrayal of his formidable charge, Cooper left no stone unturned in bringing his depiction to life. The actor revealed in an interview that he even made the bizarre choice to wear the exact shoes used by Kyle across four tours of Iraq during filming.
The actor even continued to don the marksman's footwear long after production on the movie had wrapped. Cooper mused that his decision to continue wearing Kyle's shoes was likely due to his deep emotional connection to the film's eponymous character, sadly remarking, "I don't want to let go, maybe".
