predator-blood Nowadays we're all quick to put the special effects we glimpse in the movies down to some fat guy working his magic on some huge computer, and you know what? Most of the time, we're probably right - that's exactly what's happening (although, more than likely, it's lots and lots of fat guys). And we have to give our props to these people, because let's face it... we have no idea how the hell they do whatever it is they do. Hollywood these days is packed to the brim with thousands of these tech savvy guys, of course... guys who can conjure up a T-Rex in a couple of hours, or make Ian McKellen look 30 years younger in the sum of an afternoon. But there once existed a time when it wasn't quite as simple as all that. A time when a director couldn't scratch his sack, throw a casual hand in the air and shout, "Ah, we'll fix it in post." Filmmakers had to be inventive. They had to use whatever means were available to them. They had to be really, truly creative, dammit. Which, occasionally, meant utilizing things like milk and condoms (I'm not kidding).
