10 Insanely Accurate Movie Details You Never Noticed

6. Gill's Species - Finding Nemo

It's understandable that the inclusion of 2003's Finding Nemo on this list may raise a few eyebrows. After all, does a computer-animated film concerning talking fish sound like a likely candidate for precise detail?

After being placed in a Sydney dentist's fish tank, young clownfish Nemo meets the "Tank Gang", led by Willem Dafoe's Gill. A fellow former ocean resident, the world-weary fish dreams of nothing but escape. Despite being scarred during a breakout attempt, his appetite for liberation never wavers.

On the surface, Gill's raison d'etre appears to be no more than a product of his environment. In reality, it's actually a sly nod to his species. While he is never expressly referred to as such, Gill is a Moorish idol - easily identifiable by his distinctive black-and-white markings.

Moorish idols are notoriously difficult to maintain in captivity, hence Gill's constant yearning for freedom. They require enormous tanks and a carefully selected diet - they will literally starve to death rather than eat something that they do not want to.

As such, it becomes clear that the choice of Gill's species was no accident.
