10 Insulting Ways Characters Were Killed Off Between Horror Movies
8. Alex Price Killed By Her Daughter - An American Werewolf in Paris
Alex Price’s journey throughout An American Werewolf in London is full of love, loss, terror, and tragedy.
A nurse at a London hospital, she enters the narrative by taking care of protagonist David Kessler as he recovers from the opening werewolf attack. Once he’s released, David stays with – and dates – Alex, and the pair have a ton of romantic chemistry as she painfully plays the classic part of a woman helplessly watching her lover become a beast.
Ultimately, David is murdered by police after his savage rampage across Piccadilly Circus, with Alex weeping as she stares at his lifeless human body on the street.
Now, a successor never needed to be greenlit, yet that didn’t stop An American Werewolf in Paris from emerging about 15 years later. Seeing as how it revolves around Alex and David’s daughter –Serafine – also having lycanthropy, you might think that the picture would at least provide a comforting resolution to Alex’s arc.
You’d be wrong, though, as it turns out that Serafine previously mauled her mother to death after receiving what was meant to be a cure for her condition. Guilt-ridden, Serafine jumps off the Eiffel Tower but is saved by tourist Andy McDermott as the movie begins.
It’s a knowingly disrespectful write-off for someone who’s already suffered so much sorrow.
