What's amazing about Natalie Portman's performance in 2018's Vox Lux is that when she finally makes an appearance two-thirds into the movie, she makes an impact as if everything before that point didn't matter.

Portman is a tour de force in this movie, playing a famous pop star named Celeste. The charisma she brings is magnetic, and it's possible with Natalie Portman being a child-star who rose to fame, and maintained that status as an adult, she might have inserted her own experiences and thoughts into the portrayal of an unpredictable and hostile starlet?

As soon as Natalie Portman appears on screen, speaking in an aggressive New York accent, she's commanding the rooms and scenes she's in - and not just because she's the biggest name on screen. The character of Celeste is entitled and vindictive. Natalie Portman has played aggressive characters before, but she's never played someone as spiteful as Celeste, although some arguments could be made for Alice in Closer.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
