7. The Resident Evil Franchise

Resident Evil Afterlife The Resident Evil films may be absolute abominations and a gargantuan middle finger to fans of the video games but Paul W.S Anderson keeps cranking them out having his wife Milla Jovovich essentially playing a female Neo that slaughters zombies and monsters. Sure the films make back their already puny sized budgets domestically but the kicker is that the international take (save for the latest installment) grows and grows. For some perspective, Resident Evil; Afterlife grossed nearly $240 million internationally and only $60 million domestically. The largest markets are Japan and China as Resident Evil (known as Biohazard in Asia) is a big thing. Fingers crossed we will then get an adaptation of the games. The franchises€™ conclusion is slated for 2014 but with strong totals and low budgets across the board it will be interesting to see how fast Hollywood reboots this one.
