10 Intrusions From The Cthulhu Mythos Into Cinema

1. The Whisperer In Darkness

The Whisperer In Darkness Though this list is in no way a charting from worst to best, each film selected being as good as the others, the second effort by the HPLHS is definitely one of the best adaptations of a Lovecraft tale for the cinematic medium. Again created €“ or shot €“ in Mythoscope so as to appear as an artefact from a by gone era, The Whisperer in Darkness perfectly evokes the sensibilities of the dawning horror and sci-fi creature features of the 1930's. Adhering to the original tale's plot structure almost completely, this adaptation is a testament to the ingenuity of the creative team. Lovecraft's tale actually ends in the second act which as a movie would be disastrous, however a third act is created which plays out most satisfactorily finishing on a twist worthy of the master himself.

David is grateful not only for the opportunity WhatCulture! has given him but also for the tens of thousands of views that you have given him. Particularly, when he still considers his efforts as somewhat clumsy and amateurish. Like H.P. Lovecraft, David will probably never be happy with his own work. Still this doesn't stop him studying E-Prime, Game Theory, Tantra, Magic, Media Analysis & Criticism along with many other things outside of his top secret day to day job and writing for WhatCulture! All of this in a no doubt conceited effort to improve not only his writing but also himself as a person.
